Grapes have been loved for their symbolic significance and artistic beauty in both Western and Eastern cultures for a long time.

With its tempting clusters of grapes, stems, and vines, the fruit symbolizes

abundance, good fortune, fecundity, and prosperity.

In particular, during the Joseon Dynasty,

literati painters enjoyed drawing grapes in ink wash paintings, known as mukpododo, with ‘Four Gracious Plants’.

There are records that grape fold screens were mainly used at family parties,

indicating that grapes were loved by people from all walks of life.

Since ancient times, people have exchanged pictures depicting themes of expelling evil spirits and good fortune,

and hung them in their homes, hoping that their wishes would come true.

The ‘Pododo’ poster was inspired by the ‘Mukpododo’ by Shin Saimdang,
