우리나라는 예로부터 호랑이가 많이 서식하여 ‘호랑이의 나라’로 불려 왔습니다.

사람들에게 호랑이는 모든 짐승의 왕으로서 천하를 호령하는 영물이었습니다. 

또한 명예와 권위를 상징하고, 잡귀를 막아주는 존재로 인식되어왔습니다.

옛 조상들은 이러한 ‘호랑이’의 그림을 대문이나 기둥에 걸어 

악운을 막고 재물운과 명예운, 권력운을 높여주는 의미로 사용하였다고 합니다.

예로부터 사람들은 신을 대신하는 동물로서 상서롭게 여겨지던 동물의 그림을 

벽에 걸거나 문에 붙여 놓고 평안과 행복을 빌었다고 합니다.

‘맹호도 Maenghodo’ 포스터는 단원 김홍도의 작품인 ‘송하맹호도’에서 영감을 얻어 디자인되었습니다.

Korea has been called the 'Land of Tigers' since ancient times, as tigers used to inhabit the area abundantly.

To people, tigers were seen as the king of all animals, ruling over the world.

They were also regarded as a symbol of honor and authority, and were believed to expel evil spirits.

Our ancestors used to hang paintings of a tiger on their doors or pillars,

believing that it would ward off bad luck and bring good fortune in terms of wealth, honor, and authority.

Since ancient times, people have considered pictures of animals that were considered sacred as substitutes for gods,

hanging them on walls or doors to wish for peace and happiness.

The ‘Maenghodo’ poster is designed with inspiration from the painting ‘Songha Maenghodo’ by Danwon Kim Hong-do.
